Airlie Beach Geography
The Airlie Beach is positioned near the very centre of the Great Barrier Reefs and extends out over two thousand kilometres of a scenic coastline. It lies near latitude 20 degrees over to the south. The foreshore has been built as a swimming lagoon to separate it from the areas often inhabited by marine stingers for some months of the year. The beach is neighbour to Cannonvale and Abel Point Marina.

Airlie Beach History
Airlie Beach was discovered and developed along with the rest of the Whitsunday Islands in 1770, when Captain James Cook named the islands as the ultimate paradise for sailors. Over the years, the beach was further developed as the embarkation point for the Whitsunday Islands.
